So what’s the problem?
Almost no real systems use cryptography...
Some reasons will eventually go away
- there’s starting to be demand for security
- crazy cold-war-era government regulations
Other reasons are harder
- we can’t prove much of anything about ciphers
- security problems don’t really map directly to the problems solved by cryptography
