Problem 1: You never needed crypto before. But you do now.
In the old days, things were usually simple
- “important stuff” was handled in person, by hand, etc.
- meetings, contracts, letters, messengers, cash, etc.
- “cyber” media were pretty secure, actually
- hard to tap a telephone, intercept a letter, break in to vault
Today, forget it on both counts:
- important stuff is handled electronically
- physical media / manual processing is for the unimportant stuff
- the best (cheapest, fastest, easiest) media is less secure
- and it will get only worse: Internet, cellular, etc.
