Talk: Opencode – Open science by FER
The growing reliance on artificial intelligence and data-intensive software systems has fundamentally reshaped the nature of scientific research. Within this evolving landscape, Open Science has re-emerged as a central paradigm for ensuring transparency, reproducibility, and effective collaboration. Yet, despite the broad acceptance of its principles, their practical implementation continues to pose substantial challenges.
This talk presents OpenCode.hr as a concrete institutional response to these challenges. Conceived as a platform for managing and sharing source code and related artifacts, OpenCode.hr enables the systematic adoption of Open Science principles within academic settings, supporting their alignment with FAIR principles and broader European Open Science initiatives. Using the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) as a case study, the presentation examines how the platform can be integrated into both research and teaching workflows.
The presentation concludes by emphasizing that platforms such as OpenCode.hr should be understood not merely as supportive tools, but as critical infrastructure for contemporary scientific practice, enabling the enhancement of research quality, increasing visibility, and amplifying institutional impact.
